Hollywood breeds some strange bedfellows, but generally the pattern is: people are friends with people they work with OR they’re friends with people they meet at clubs and parties OR they’re friends with fellow parents and they have some kind of connection through their kids or their kids’ school. I guess that’s not just Hollywood, but that happens in the real world too, although in the real world, a lot of people keep in touch with school/college friends, and you rarely hear about that in Hollywood. What am I getting at? I’m struggling to understand how Robert Pattinson ended up partying with Vince Vaughn and Joaquin Phoenix. Because that happened Friday night in LA.
These pics are of Rob leaving a “private party” at The Larchmont. Vince and Joaquin were there, as were Florence Welch and assorted “Hollywood types” which you can see in these photos. According to Pacific Coast News, Sparkles and his friends (who seem like they might be rolling him, right?) “jumped into an old school Chevy Camaro that had a ‘No Smoking’ sign posted on the back seats where Rob sat.” And Joaquin was apparently in the front seat. How in the world did poor Sparkles end up partying with Joaquin and Vince?!?!
Three guys walk into a restaurant. That may sound like the beginning of a joke, but it’s actually the beginning of something else: Robert Pattinson’s boys’ night out with Vince Vaughn and Joaquin Phoenix. On Friday, April 5, the unlikely trio were spotted hitting the town together in L.A.
Pattinson, 26, joined Vaughn, 43, and Phoenix, 38, at the Larchmont Restaurant in Larchmont Village, where they grabbed dinner with a few other friends. It’s unclear what else they did — or how they all know one another.
One thing they have in common? Reese Witherspoon. All three have appeared opposite the Oscar-winning star in various films over the last decade. Phoenix was Johnny Cash to her June Carter in 2005’s Walk the Line, for which she won the Academy Award; Vaughn played her leading man in the 2008 rom-com Four Christmases; and Pattinson rescued her from an abusive circus trainer in the 2011 movie adaptation of Water for Elephants.
Pattinson — whom his former costar has called a “very sensitive soul” — also famously hid out at the actress’ Ojai, Calif., ranch last July, after Kristen Stewart was caught cheating on him with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. (A source told Us Weekly at the time that Witherspoon hoped the rustic retreat would have a “calming effect” on the Twilight actor as he dealt with his heartache.)
Since then, of course, Pattinson and Stewart have reconciled. Earlier this week, before the actor’s boys’ night out, the two were spotted holding hands and grabbing sushi together in L.A.’s Los Feliz neighborhood. They looked “really happy and lovey-dovey,” an eyewitness told PopSugar. “Kristen grabbed his arm, and they were walking and joking.”
Hahaha, yeah I’m sure they all went out to a private party to talk about how they all know Reese. The Reese Connection is interesting, though, because they all have such different experiences with her. Apparently, Vince and Reese did NOT get along at all when they working together and they’ve both sworn to never do it again. As for Sparkles, I think Reese mothers him or acts like his big sister, and there is nothing romantic or sexual between them whatsoever. But Joaquin? I’ve always had a theory that Reese and Joaquin fooled around with each other while they were making Walk the Line. Reese’s marriage (to Ryan Phillippe) was falling apart and when Reese and Joaquin promoted the movie… well, they just seemed very “connected”.
Anyway, Vince and Joaquin can really party, so I’m sort of worried about these new, hardcore influences on poor little Sparkles. If this outing was Rob trying to prove that he can party with the big boys… well, why is that something you want to prove?
