Service is attentive, unstuffy and personable in style. On my visit, a few kinks still needed to be ironed out (staff arriving to turn-down the room while guests are still in, for example). Judging by the general professionality with which it is run, these imperfections should be fixed as the hotel settles.
There is a spa and wellness area housed in former flour mill. Inside there are treatment rooms for an Ayurvedic masseur and osteopath, a sauna and a hammam. There are also two outdoor Nordic baths, heated by wood burner, which are available for all guests to use in the day and evening.
Guests can book in advance to participate in horse whispering classes and rides out in the surrounding Rambouillet forest, adapted depending on their ability. A cycling experience can also be booked with charming local guide Philippe (€70/£62 for a 10-mile group cycle, for example); guests can also borrow the hotel’s bikes for free. Pétanque, badminton, and football kit is also available and staff can recommend walking and running trails.
